DIY Manson Jar Salads & Yogurts

Shannon Gray an amazing Photographer and now a DIY type of gal, shared with us a delightful yogurt & salad in a Manson jar creation. This delicious duo was created by Shannon and her workout partner Lindsay. We're giving it a whirl, why don't you try it and let us know how yours turn out.  Send us your pictures! You can see the actual post from Shannon here

Shannon purchased pint-sized Manson jars for her breakfast recipe. The larger jars were used for the salads.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup uncooked old fashioned rolled oats

1/3 cup skim milk

1/4 cup low-fat Greek yogurt

1-1/2 teaspoons dried chia seeds (Shannon used flax seed instead, since the chia seeds were unavailable).

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon raspberry jam, preserves, or spread  (Shannon chose not to use).

1/4 to 1/3 cup raspberries (cut each berry in half), or enough to fill jar.

You basically just mix everything together except the raspberries. Shake it up, add the fruit, then stir. SUPER EASY!

2. Add your steel cut oats.

1. Cut up your favorite fruit. Shannon added peaches.

3. Add the milk.

4. Looks pretty good shaken, right?

5. Add the yogurt and flax seeds .

6. Add the fruit that you chopped up in the beginning.

7. Shannon decided to mix both the raspberries & peaches together.

The end result, totally YUMMY!

Now for the Salad Jars. Shannon made the dressing and jazzed it up with a a few great spices.  She also added chopped chicken to add some much needed protein as well as pine nuts…  That combination is just so YUMMY!  See actual recipe here

For the dressing Shannon blended together: 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil / 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar / 1-2 tbsp water (more or less depending on the consistency needed) /2 tbsp honey (can be replaced with agave or brown sugar) 1/4 tsp sea salt / 1/4 tsp black pepper. Give it a try and let us know how yours turn out.  Enjoy! Thanks Shannon!
